(Press Release) AMD has recently announced the promotion of Dirk Meyer to senior vice president and corporate officer. In his new role, Meyer will continue to lead AMD's Computation Products Group as it prepares to introduce AMD's highly anticipated eighth-generation family of processors, the first member of which is planned to be shipped later this year. Meyer, 40, joined AMD in 1996 as director of engineering for AMD's seventh-generation microprocessor development program in Austin, Texas, where he led the team that designed and developed the award-winning AMD Athlon processor.
