Dell has introduced a new high-end multimedia laptop designed for demanding digital content creation, video editing, and gaming. The 9-pound Inspiron 9100 features a 15.4-inch wide-screen display -- or rather, your choice of three wide-screen displays, with 1,280 by 800; 1,680 by 1,050; or 1,920 by 1,200 resolution -- and ATI's Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics accelerator with either 64MB or 128MB of DDR memory.

Prices start at $1,549 for a system with 2.8GHz Hyper-Threading Pentium 4 processor and DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive. A deluxe configuration with 3.2GHz Pentium 4 power, the highest-resolution screen, 1GB of DDR400 memory, 4X DVD+RW drive, 80GB hard disk, 802.11b/g wireless networking, Windows XP Professional, and Microsoft Office 2003 Small Business Edition is $3,053. An audio subwoofer, IEEE 1394 and four USB 2.0 ports, and DVI and S-Video ports are standard.
