They're called first-person shooters, not first-person squeakers, MonsterGecko LLC has unveiled a high-performance game gun -- an optical mouse that looks and works like a pistol. Shipping in June, the $70 PistolMouse FPS offers primary and secondary grip triggers and a scroll wheel operated with the thumb (the ambidextrous design can be toggled for left- or right-handed use). An 800-dpi optical sensor is built into the base.
Meanwhile, Logitech has introduced two new PC game controllers that combine a more conventional gamepad design with an enhanced button arrangement featuring 8-way D-pad, dual analog control sticks, and dual-vibration feedback. The RumblePad 2 is a $30 corded model, while the Cordless RumblePad 2 ($40) gets more than 100 hours of play from two AA batteries, using Logitech's frequency-hopping 2.4GHz wireless technology. They'll ship this fall, followed by a $10 economy model, the translucent blue Logitech Precision GamePad.
