Pocket-sized USB 2.0 flash drives are everywhere, but Kanguru Solutions' KanguruMicro Drive 2.0 still manages to stand out: The 3-inch device is available in capacities up to a staggering 4GB, with built-in data compression that can effectively double that to 8GB of data storage.
Included KanguruGuard software puts two special folders on the flash drive. One automatically compresses any data stored therein; the other both compresses files and protects them with 128-bit encryption, requiring a secure password for data access. Kanguru says DES, Triple DES, and Blowfish encryption formats are available upon request. The plug-and-play drive starts at $40 for a 64MB (uncompressed) model, climbing through 128MB ($55), 256MB ($80), 512MB ($160), 1GB ($300), 2GB ($850), and 4GB ($1,700).
