    October 5, 2007

Early adopters thinking of Intel's newest desktop chipsets and the switch from swift DDR-2 to even swifter DDR-3 memory will have to think higher -- Kingston Technology Co. has introduced high-performance 1800MHz and low-latency 1625MHz modules to its HyperX DDR-3 family.

Tested on an Asus P5K3 Deluxe P35-based motherboard, Kingston's 1800MHz DIMMs have CL8-8-8-24-1T latency specs and are priced at $227 for a 1GB stick or $453 for a kit of two. The 1625MHz silicon downshifts to CL7-7-7-20-IT at the same 1.9 volts and cost $224 for a 1GB module or $448 for two.
