Small businesses, home offices, and students on a budget will want to check out Fujitsu Computer Systems Corp.'s new LifeBook V1010, a 15.4-inch-widescreened laptop priced from $799. That sticker includes a choice of Windows Vista Business or Windows XP Professional; a 1.86GHz Pentium Dual-Core T2130 processor; 1GB of DDR-2 memory; a 120GB hard disk; and a dual-layer DVD±RW drive.

Another $100 buys a version with Intel's Core 2 Duo T5200 (1.6GHz, 2MB of Level 2 cache) and 2GB of RAM. The 6.2-pound LifeBook also features Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 950 video and Atheros 802.11a/b/g wireless, as well as a spill-resistant keyboard.
