D-Link started the whole "gaming router" business, and with the Xtreme NT Gaming Router, the company has now taken performance to Draft 802.11n Wi-Fi levels. This is the newest member of the D-Link GamerLounge product line, and combines Draft 802.11n with updated GameFuel technology. This last feature is a packet-processing engine integrated into the router, providing online games with bandwidth priority over other data-hogging online applications.
The Xtreme NT Gaming Router (DGL-4500) can give gamers that extra edge, and as Daniel Kelley, director of marketing, D-Link Systems, Inc. says, "For serious online gaming, where every millisecond counts, gamers need the fastest router available to give them a competitive edge. This is that router." The modem includes four gigabit LAN ports, one gigabit WAN port, a USB Port, and an onboard OLED display for monitoring important network activity. The DGL-4500 is not only optimized for PC gaming, but also popular game consoles like the Microsoft XBOX and Sony Playstation families. It also supports the latest wireless networking security standards, including Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA and WPA-2), and advanced firewall features. The DGL-4500 has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $239.99.
